The 2010 FIFA World Cup officially kicks off in less than 2 weeks and every patriotic englishman and woman’s thoughts turn to one thing – will this be the year when England, against all the odds, fulfill our dreams… and release a good World Cup song?
We’ve had some solid efforts in the past, ‘Football’s Coming Home’, ‘Three Lions’ and ‘World in Motion’ but maybe this year is THE year. Back in February, the FA confirmed that there will be no official World Cup anthem for England this time around so it’s left to the great British public to come up with their own ideas. So, what have we come up with to cheer our team on?
Here’s a selection:
Noble England
An element of star quality with this one as Rik Mayall has been drafted in to deliver a Henry V style call to arms, backed by a rousing chorus and some thoroughly unnecessary 3D computer graphics.
Take it all away
If you ever wondered what a football song would sound like if it was written in the style of an 80s action film training montage (e.g. The Karate Kid or Rocky), look no further…
We are Engerland
And here’s a more light-hearted effort from some local fans – they’re friends of Lucy’s, I’ll say nothing more than that…
So based on those efforts, maybe the 2014 World Cup in Brazil will be THE year…
Leon Summers, our Studio Manager and Senior Designer, put on his running shoes at the weekend and ran the Derby 10k for charity.
Despite having never run 6 miles in his life, Leon did us all proud by running the 10k in an impressive 47 minutes and 47 seconds. In doing so he’s helped raise a huge £595 for The Eve Appeal. Nice one Leon!
The fundraising page is still open, so if you want to donate, or see the current total then visit Just Giving. Leon would like to say a ‘big thanks’ to all those who’ve donated and supported him.
We’re thrilled to have become a member of the Recommended Agency Register (RAR). RAR uses references from clients to give a reliable and unbiased view of agencies and their performance .
A big thank you to all our clients who recommended us!
Believe it or not it’s been an amazing 20 years since Photoshop was first launched by John Knoll, Thomas Knoll, Russell Brown and Steve Guttman. To celebrate the landmark anniversary Adobe gathered together the original developers to discuss the creation and impact of the software, which has become an everyday tool for many designers. You can find out more on the Creative Review website.
The in-house design team at South African airline ‘Kulula’ has come up with a unique and informative way to rebrand their aircrafts. Not only does the refreshing colour catch your eye, but you also get to learn what everything is called and even where the loo is without setting foot on board!
Keep your eyes peeled for one of these planes next time you’re at the airport, or click here to find out more.
Well we certainly had a good old fashioned knees up at our belated Christmas party on Friday! It was a great night at the Hand and Heart pub with its unusual setting inside Nottingham’s caves.
The night just flew by and we’re sure most people would have been a little worse for wear on Saturday… A good time was had by all – see for yourself below!
We’re all lovers of the Apple Mac here at Michon, but it’s fascinating to see just how much the Apple mouse has evolved over the last 25 years. From the bulky, blocky, beige Macintosh mouse that first appeared in 1984 to the new all singing and dancing multi-touch wireless Magic Mouse. We just wonder what Apple will come up with next. Raneko’s photographs, below, show the evolution brilliantly.
