Evolution of the mouse
January 13th, 2010We’re all lovers of the Apple Mac here at Michon, but it’s fascinating to see just how much the Apple mouse has evolved over the last 25 years. From the bulky, blocky, beige Macintosh mouse that first appeared in 1984 to the new all singing and dancing multi-touch wireless Magic Mouse. We just wonder what Apple will come up with next. Raneko’s photographs, below, show the evolution brilliantly.
We’re on the Drum website
January 12th, 2010The Drum featured our design of E’ON’s ‘onenergy’ magazine on their website today. The magazine is targeted at Members of Parliament and provides client’s views on energy policy and updates on E.ON’s UK business. You can read all about it on the Drum’s website.
Snow!
January 6th, 2010Leon gets on his bike for charity
December 14th, 2009On Sunday our studio manager Leon took part in a motorcycle ride to help raise food and toy donations for Just for Dogs shelter in Derbyshire. The ride, which went from Derby to Brailsford, saw around 20 people get on their motorbikes, including the Mayor of Derby!
We all helped by sponsoring Leon with donations of dog food and toys so hopefully the dogs will have a feast this Christmas.
Below are some pictures from the day and some of the dogs at the shelter, including the gorgeous puppy which Leon will be fostering over Christmas. Well done to all those who took part in the ride.
Happy Birthday to us!
December 1st, 2009Today we’re celebrating our 27th birthday! Michon was started by Jeff Michon, our Managing Director, on the 1st December 1982.
Jeff wanted an agency that was second to none for customer service and that offered the right blend of marketing and design. We’ve grown from strength to strength over the years to become a full service agency with clients who’ve been with us for over 10 years.
Inventive ideas
November 30th, 2009We’ve just discovered a great little site called ‘Variations on normal‘ full of interesting and innovative ideas. The site has been created by designer and ‘thinkeruper’ Dominic Wilcox to record his thoughts and designs. There’s a real mix of ideas, from the practical to the more ridiculous, here’s just a few of our favourites:
Congratulations Kate!
November 20th, 2009We want to say a big congratulations to our Office Manager Kate, who has just been awarded her Introductory Certificate in Marketing from the CIM! All that coursework and revision obviously hasn’t put Kate off as she’s now studying for the Professional Certificate.
Sarah, one of our Account Marketing Executives, has also been hitting the books as she studies for the CIM Professional Diploma. Good luck to both for their exams on the 1st of December!
Our designs hit the road!
November 19th, 2009You couldn’t miss the trailer we recently designed for E.ON. They’ve been out and about in it giving the general public advice on how to lower energy bills this winter. We created an interactive outdoor game to attract passers-by and have also produced an online version of it. You can have a go yourself here.
Senior Campaign Officer in E.ON’s Customer PR Team, says: “We gave Michon a difficult brief and they embraced the challenge and worked closely with us to create an engaging and inviting way to communicate this advice. We’re delighted with the end result.”
Nottingham Contemporary is open!
November 17th, 2009On Saturday ‘Nottingham Contemporary’ finally opened it’s doors to the public. We’ve been watching as this unusual building has taken shape, with more than 500 local craftsmen and women involved in turning the site of caves, cellars and a derelict railway tunnel into this four-storey arts centre. Experience Nottinghamshire predicts that in the first 10 weeks over 250,000 people will visit the centre and we all plan to be amongst this number.
Love it or hate it, architects Caruso St John has certainly created an eye-catching building for Nottingham Contemporary. Martine Hamilton-Knight’s photograph below shows off the intricate lace detail on the exterior of the building.
BBC2’s Culture Show recently featured Nottingham Contemporary, exploring the building and reviewing the exhibition. You can watch the episode using the BBC iPlayer. Current exhibitions include David Hockney and Frances Stark, for more information visit Nottingham Contemporary.
